Once a recruit has been processed and their application accepted, they can start training. Training is conducted by an NCO and then reported to the 2IC or CO if they complete it to a competent standard.
Phase 1 — Basic Training
Basic training is the first step in becoming a member of the MDF. It teaches you the most basic medical, combat, and team skills so you can take part in operations.
Phase 2 — Role Training
If you chose a role other than Rifleman, you will receive training specific to the role you chose in the recruitment process. This will show you how to do your job during operations and ensure that you are capable of doing said job. All roles are vital to the team and you will have to complete training prior to assuming said role.
Phase 3 — Advanced Training
Advanced training is specialised combat training to be completed by all members of the team. It teaches the more advanced parts of combat training such as building breaching, urban warfare, patrolling, camouflage and concealment, etc.
JNCO Training
JNCO training is available to Private First Class & Specialist members of the unit, which allows promotion to Lance Corporal. A Lance Corporal is in most cases in charge of a fireteam of 4 people. The training teaches leadership skills and team-wide management.
JNCO Training is not always open.
